the problem: my manager does not see me

A problem that is all too common. It can have several causes. But whatever the cause, it is such a shame when it happens to team members or even the whole team.

  • why team

In all our articles, we talk about team. But why team. Why so specifically talk about team. There is a reason. Of course, staff or staff is also good, but the point here is one of awareness. A team contains different people with different capabilities and different needs. And despite these differences, you desperately need these people. A team in which everyone is not the same generally functions better. On condition, however, that everyone is in their place and appreciated for it.

    In work situations

Just make the comparison with a sports team. Take a football, handball or a hockey team. One notable team member is the goalkeeper. A very important member of the team who can do a number of tasks excellently in this case goalkeeping, but does not really excel in other important tasks now. The striker, the person who lurks on behalf of the team to score the goal. The defender who helps the goalkeeper, but also creates space for the striker to score. In work situations, you find this kind of situation too. There are always people to be found with who like to work on new things, There are always people who like to tidy things up. There are always people who like to do what they already know and prefer to do as few new things as possible. When all these people are in place, they feel comfortable and often appreciated. And the team then functions optimally.

    up to a manager

It is of course up to a manager to recognise these properties. Even though that is sometimes not always easy to know exactly what people like. It comes down to your knowledge and skill as a manager here. And when you don’t see it or know what a team member is comfortable with to start the conversation and find out what makes the team member feel optimal. People who are well in place make the best work. So when you read our articles, you read about teams and about the people who make the team a team.

Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people‘.

  • why that name the orange turn

We regularly get asked why that name the orange turn. Does it mean something? The answer is actually yes. The colour orange was not chosen at random. The colour orange generally symbolises joy, enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation. Ultimately for many beautiful, positive and good things. Also, the colour stands for warmth. And these are all particularly important core values for us.

    van Oranje-Nassau

And of course the colour orange also stands for our origins. We Annemieke and Bink, we are both from the Netherlands. And for those who don’t know, the colour orange is a pretty important colour. After all, it stands for the Dutch royal family. The king’s surname is ‘van Oranje-Nassau’ and Oranje is translated Orange. All the Dutch sports teams are always dressed in orange. Despite wanting to be people of this world, we still see this as a piece of recognition and acknowledgement that we are Dutch after all.

    your turn

With the orange turn, we want to give something to people in business. This usually means that they may or may not have to make a turn in their thinking. This turn can be explained in various positive ways. Sometimes you need to turn the rudder. Maybe even 180 degrees. Sometimes you only need a small turn. Either way, it is a turn in your ways. However, the turn also represents the fact that it is your turn. With our information and learnings, we hope to impart an awareness that you can benefit from in your profession and maybe even in your private life. So that is why that name the orange turn.

  • do not be afraid to be authentic

Do not be afraid to be authentic. That sounds easy, but in practice it is still quite a challenge. People tend to conform to the masses. However, authenticity is often much stronger than many people think. Just look in your past at people you really liked, loved or intersected with. Often these are people who chose their path. Perhaps a good thing to look at yourself and ask yourself How authentic am I?
